It is my hubby's birthday today. Lately he has been bothered by his age. He will turn the big 6-0 next year and he ponders quite often at life in general. Some things he wishes he could change that took place over the years, things beyond his control. I think we all have those moments. I keep telling him that people learn by their mistakes and no one is perfect. Be happy for what you have today. I've always been a firm believer in that "things happen for a reason". Sometimes when we go through rough waters, there is a plan for us and you just need to be patient and follow the path. You don't understand it at the time, but with patience "things happen for a reason". I also tell him that people need to let go......it's not healthy to hold grudges all your life. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Here is the card I made for his birthday:

Dave loves to fish. Even though this is a retired stamp set, I've held on to it for years. I believe it dates back to the 90's, when I first started stamping. It is one of my favorite sets. The background cardstock is a brand new color debuting July 1st called "Early Espresso". It is a deep chocolate color and is gorgeous. I stamped a background using "Whisper White Craft Ink" and the "Inspired by Nature" stamp set. Don't you just love the little "grasses"?

I cut out 3 different sized circles. I left the "Tempting Turquoise" as is. For the "Old Olive" circle, I used my "Big Shot" and the "Square Lattice Impressions Folder". For the third and final circle I stamped my image in "VersaMark Ink" and embossed it with my "Heat Gun" and "Black Embossing Powder". I then used my ink pads-"Sahara Sand and Old Olive" and with a "Blender Pen" I colored in the image. I stamped my fish on a scrap piece of "Whisper White" and embossed those also and again, colored using my inks and blender pen. I carefully snipped my fish with prescision using my "Paper Snips". These small scissors are A+ for cutting up close to the lines. Add a sentiment from "Teeny Tiny Wishes" cut out with the "Word Window Punch". Add a few brads and card is complete!
Along with my card, I presented my husband with his gifts, a Game Camera. We have animals on our property. Everyone in the neighborhood has seen a moose except for us. This camera is motion activated and is made for the outdoors. Once it detects motion......SNAP......it takes pictures on its own! It has a USB cord attached so you download all your pictures right onto your computer! I can see him checking his new camera out on a daily basis! I also bought him a John Deere cribbage board. It was quite pricey but worth it! He loves to play cribbage!
