Pals Paper Arts is hosting a "Halloween Inspiration Challenge" this week. I've been busy working on workshop cards and cards for my October Class. I completed this one yesterday and thought it would be appropriate. Some of my customers will be making this card at a workshop this month (can't tell you which workshop, sorry)!

This is called a "Stair-step card". They are always such fun to make:

This side view shows you the "steps":

Close-up of some of the punched images:

Punches:
  • Ghosts: can you believe the ghost is created with the Owl Punch? Just take his little ole' body and turn it upside-down! Add two eyes!
  • Pumpkin: Cut 5 of the Large Oval punch and stack them! I sponged the eges first and added the branch from the Bird Punch!
  • Sentiment is from Wicked Cool and is stamped in Basic Black ink and cut out with the Large Oval Punch, stacked on a 1 3/8" Circle Punch and finally layered over the Scallop Circle Punch.
  • Moon: 1 3/8" Circle Punch, sponged edges in Pumpkin Pie ink.
  • Bats: Bat Punch
  • Card Background: Perfect Plum embossed with the Spider Web Impressions Folder.

UPDATE: Many of you emailed me for the card cutting and folding directions:

    Cardstock size: 8.5 x 5.5, Score in half at 4 1/4"

Cut slit on the long side 2" in from the edge. The slit is cut starting at 1" from the short side edge all the way to 6 3/8" long towards to other short side. This leaves the 2 1/8" uncut on the other side.

Scores: Score on the widest cut side within where you made your slit. Score at 1", 2", 3 1/8", 4 1/4" (should already be scored from step 1), and 6 3/8"

    Have fun!!
