Today I will be demonstrating the "MASKING" technique.

Masking is used when you want to incorporate several images as overlapping without the inks interferring with each other.

In this tutorial, I will be using 3 stamps from the "Animal Stories" stamp set. I am also using three different ink colors: Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue & Certainly Celery:

Step 1: Stamp your image twice, once on the cardstock you will be using for your card, and the second image on scrap paper or a post note. Post it notes allow you to use the sticky side to stick to your cardstock. I used the Bashful Blue ink for this image. Cut out image that you stamped on your scrap paper:

Step 2: Place the cut-out image over your image that you stamped on your cardstock as shown below, covering the image completely:

Step 3: I inked the second stamp I am using with Certainly Celery. Stamp the image over-lapping your mask:

This is what your images should look like. As you can see, the Bashful Blue ink did not interfere with the Certainly Celery ink:

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 with the 3rd stamp image. I used Pretty In Pink ink for my last image.

Step 5: Remove mask. Repeat masking as often as needed to complete your project.

My next post will show the completed card I used for this project. Some of your projects might require that you create more than one mask. An example would be if you decided to add another elephant image beside the zebra image, you would create an additional mask of the zebra.
